Wearable Fashion Trends 9: Babydoll

Just in time for the hottest days of the season, the babydoll outfits are on their way back to your closets. The empire babydoll, which has gained instant status as a summer fashion essential, combines two styles: the low-cut, high-waisted Empire style that was popular in France during the Napoleonic era (early nineteenth century) and the babydoll, a negligee that flares gently from above the waist.

Notice that empire babydoll camisoles are not only cute, figure-flattering, and comfortable. They come in most popular designs with ribbons tied around the area below the chest and frills and lace above, or glamour, with sequins and pearls.

Dare to wear?Age is no barrier to stepping out in style!

Runway: Empire waists, ruffles, bows, and other girlish embellishments lend a sweet look to fashion this season.

Reality: Go for short mini-length dresses with feminine adornments - ruffles, frills, bows, lace. Wear them with wedge sandals, flat Mary-Janes or go for something that's a little bit different. Lastly, balance the look with oversize glasses and a big bag.
