Pallavi Jaikishan

Pallavi Jaikishan is every Bombay girl's (or woman's) go to designer for bridal wear or wedding clothes. Pallavi Jaikishan's shimmering creations are synonymous with beautiful and ornate embroideries with floral designs and patterns, hand painted flowers, ribbon work, French knots and roses. These are classic heirloom pieces that will never go out of style. Though some of her creations may seem a bit blinding, they still look beautiful nonetheless and very in-keeping with an Indian wedding affair.

Pallavi's sarees are so exquisite in terms of richness in colour and embroidery. Back in the day my mother would source clothes for her sisters from Pallavi's store. I remember we would receive lookbooks and invites to her show previews, which were mostly held in the Oberoi Rooftop. Though we never ended up going to any of those previews, I just wish I hadn't lost any of those catalogues with beautiful pictures of the clothes inside. Would have been good to scan those images; never thought I would need it for my blog in future. Some of those clothes from 1995-97 would look just as good today.

Most of the pictures reproduced below are from the HDIL India Couture Week 2009 and Bridal Asia 2008.
