Pearls Delhi Couture Week 2010 - JJ Valaya

Indian Designers have come a long way, over the years their work has improved so much, by design standards and quality. This years couture show has been surprisingly good. Clearly inspired by their peers in the west, like say Dior, it's still great to see coming of age techniques in draping, constructions and origami like folds on garments, which make for a refreshing change from simply presenting heavily embroidered and ornamented ensembles. India has a history of couture, our rich heritage of embroidery, hand dyeing and printing, and weaving has been passed down from generation to generation. By patronizing, promoting and presenting Indian couture to the world, Indian designer in their little way help preserve traditional Indian hand crafts, handlooms and weaves.
