HDIL India Couture Week 2010 - Shahab Durazi

A very disappointing collection from Mr. Shahab Durazi, some very bad clothes there, I couldn't help but wonder at times, is he trying to emulate Marchesa? The only reason I carry the pictures on my blog, is because I know am going to get a lot of views, people are curious as to how a popular designer who was once labeled the Armani of India, how his work has gone downhill? I am stumped! Though the clothes are well made; great quality and construction, nice beading and embroidery, it's the ugly embellishments; the big feathers, those stiff bows; some shaped like gigantic corsages, and overall matronly look that puts you off. The patterns are so 1970s and 80s, the collection though elegant needs a modern twist; youthful silhouettes, some innovation. In other words, his 1920s inspired collection doesn't look today! Or even what was good 2 years ago. Mr. Shahab Durazi needs to hire a critical eye, partner with a young designer; fresh blood that will inject youth and energy into his stuffy, menopausal creations. I can't believe am saying this, but he need to sex things up a bit.
