Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2011 - Jelin George

Jelin George attempted to bring her school girl fairytale fantasies to life, but instead of going the whole hog with the playful details, she stopped short and played it safe. It seems like a business decision taken from a commercial point of view, which didn't do full justice to the theme in question, when there was potential to do quirky and Harajuku and still come out tops! It was almost like the designer restrained herself from letting lose her full creativity in order to be taken seriously. Some of the separates looked sharp but loses appeal when paired with other pieces. Crisp cuts, neat finishing, niftily tailored cut-out jackets, zany buttons, a retro mod Florentina bustier dress, bustier tops, secretary chic pencil skirts, Mickey Mouse ear puff sleeves, whimsical bows and appliqued heart motifs, 70s siren plunging V neck collar printed blouse, an aubergine stewardess safari shirt dress fastened with a contrasting belt in ochre tied in a bow on the back and the show stopper Red Riding Hoodie dress that featured a gorgeously embroidered forest print towards the hem sums up the best of Jelin George's Summer Resort 2011 collection.
